Obituary for Alex Dubgaard
Associate professor emeritus Alex Dubgaard has passed away. As one of the trailblazers of environmental economics in Denmark, he has been an inspiration to students and colleagues alike.
It is with deep sorrow that IFRO has received the news that Alex Dubgaard has died.
For many years, Alex was first and foremost a prominent part of the Section for Economics at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University and, following the fusion with the University of Copenhagen, of IFRO. During the last few years, he was still active as associate professor emeritus.
Alex was one of the fathers of environmental economics in Denmark. He left a lasting impact on especially valuation and instruments in the field of environmental economics.
In addition, he was a pioneer in the establishment of the very successful master’s programme in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, which was established in 2006. Through this, Alex has inspired and educated countless students throughout the years. He has made a profound effect, which will influence the development of the green transition in Denmark for many years to come.
May he rest in peace.
