Short description of the thesis

In 1999, Storm Anatol tore through Denmark, yet Danish building codes still assume tomorrow's storms will look like yesterday's.
This PhD defense traces what happens when that assumption breaks: using high-resolution climate and urban wind simulations, Johanne Øelund follows a single historic storm from the North Atlantic down to a city square in central Copenhagen. The results shows how climate change impacts weather and how this can effect our cities and infrastructure.
The defense of Windstorms: Methods for Climate Adaptation in the Built Environment takes place on 22 October 2026 — all welcome.
